Every day when we wake up with the intention of putting our best foot forward and being better than we were the day before.
It’s a positive outlook on life, and a positive outlook on the way to start the day.
What better mood could we be in the moment our eyes open to start the day?
Setting a strong foundation for your day is important.
While it may be tempting to fall into the trap of not wanting to get outta bed, or not wanting to go to work, don’t give in. That trap is a trick and it only keeps you going in a downward spiral throughout the remainder of your day.
Instead, fight back.
Suppress the urge to be cranky, and start your day with a smile on your face and a cheer in your heart.
Be positive when goal setting.
Positivity paves a path to success, and that is a path that you want to be on. If you find that you are wanting to start being more in control of your emotions and become more positive about your day-to-day, it’s time to think about moving forward in setting goals to make that happen.
Here are a few suggestions on how to set positive goals that you may find helpful!
Understand why you want a goal
Goals are NOT meant to be broken.
Know that before setting one.
It’s truly not possible to break a goal because a goal is merely a want or something that you are trying to obtain.
It isn’t a make or break situation. It’s a want and a try your best situation. If you know that you want goals to be a better you to help you lead a happier and more positive life, those are awesome goals to set…
What are you waiting for?
Hold yourself accountable
But, in a positive way.
Be your own motivator for your goals.
Don’t take the easy route when it comes to setting goals. They should be a little harder to obtain so they will push you.
Keep track of your wins and hiccups along the way, and learn how to improve each time. Failing doesn’t mean a goal is over, it just means that you have to look at another route or way to reach your goal than what you just tried.
Give yourself a reason to smile.
Life is good.
Goals are great to set and aim for, but they don’t make or break your wonderful journey in life. While goals can be great motivators, it’s important to not let yourself get down during the tough times of not obtaining those goals.
Remember to take each day, each goal, one by one and allow yourself the ability to breathe. Goals are there to help you, not hurt you.
Try, try again.
If you’ve failed at anything ever in life, you know exactly what I mean.
That gut-wrenching, cold creeping up the spine, break out in a sweat sensation? Yeah, I know.
But, it’s okay.
When you fall, you try again.
When you get bucked off that horse, you climb back on for another ride. When you feel that life is giving you nothing but constant lemons…you tip back that cup and chug that lemonade.
I’ve clearly been living in Texas WAY too long…
But it’s true!
Part of being and staying positive is knowing that you will always find a way to prevail.
Alter ’em as needed.
Thankfully for us, our goals don’t have to be written in stone.
This one was the toughest for me to swallow and I’m sure for many of you, it is too.
We can wiggle them, change them or start them over whenever we choose. Just knowing that creates a positive vibe in itself. Some of the anxiety (especially as we settle into adulthood) will cease.
Knowing that you have goals, but that they can be changed, can give a sudden relief of stress and anxiety. If you find that you aren’t having fun anymore on the path set in front of you, change it!
Goal setting doesn’t have to be a dreaded process.
Dig deep and ask yourself the hard questions. To know the answers to what you are looking for and what you are hoping to find, it’s important to ask questions that can help you arrive at a conclusion.
Ask questions such as:
- “What do you want in life?
- “How do you want to accomplish those wants?”
- “How long do you want it to take you to get there?”
Once you have those answers, set forth on starting that positivity journey towards reaching your goals.
